Buzzfeed did a story on 26 foods that will give you intense flashbacks. I immediately shouted with glee when I saw some these items, and thus frantically searched the grocery store. Sadly, some of these products either don’t exist anymore or they’ve sadly completely changed.
Ring Pops were my jam. You can still buy ring pops. I no longer like ring pops. When I was seven, I totally asked a girl to marry me on the playground via ring pop. I was denied. Ring pops are no longer sweet to me.
Talk about your taste buds having the time of their life for about five seconds. Fruit stripe gum had a variety of different flavors. It’s just too bad that every stick of gum had the same exact taste afterwards. You could have a splash of tropical fruit in your mouth, followed by a rush of paper mache.
Everyone carried one of these. You could have as much gum as your want to create the ultimate bubble. However, similar to Fruit Stripe gum, the amazing and invigorating taste would only last for about five seconds until you were chewing on printing paper.
OHHHHHHHHHH Snap!!!! I used to LOVE Fridays, because Fridays meant rectangle pizza day at Cave Spring Elementary School in Roanoke, VA. To this day, it’s still the best pizza I’ve ever tasted. I wish we had ‘Rectangle Pizza Day’ at work; which would include lunch trays, scoops of corn you would never eat, and angry lunch ladies.
Those were the DAYS!!
When I opened the refrigerator to find these bad boys waiting for me after a long day of stupid junior high, I suddenly forgot that Gina Michaelson turned me down for the 7th grade dance. Sure, I could have gone for the healthier ‘Fruit on the Bottom’ yogurt, but nobody has time for that! The sugary, sweet, mixed flavor explosion in a small carton gave me the satisfaction I needed to NOT do my homework. Thank you Trix Yogurt for making my childhood awesome.
When there was only ONE Handi-Snack left in the cupboard, my sister and I would go all MMA on each other over a measly couple of crackers, a little bit of packaged cheese wiz, and a red piece of plastic. MY GAWD it was worth it though!
So, remind me again why The Flintstones were the face of ‘Push Ups’? Regardless, it was THE ice cream that I always purchased from The Ice Cream Man (back when The Ice Cream Man wasn’t sketchy……………..or was he?). Orange Sherbet all the way till it melted all over your hands and got all over your face. Yes, those were the days.
